The lands
Forest weather for your tabletop campaign
Old trees, glades and woodland roads, with rain that comes in waves, leaves that turn in autumn and snow that hushes the woods in winter.
Through the year

Averages from a year of Skyscribe's weather in typical the forest. You can set how high, how far from the sea and how far from the equator it lies, and the weather follows.
How it sounds at the table
A few days from that year, as Skyscribe describes them to read to your players. No two days read the same.
Flash after flash lights the heavy clouds, and the warm rain comes and goes in roaring bursts. Clothes cling and brows drip in the sweltering heat, while grass and leaves stir in a light southwest breeze. The mud smells of damp bark and earth, which is a fine smell for about the first hour.
Winter rain is the worst of both, and the old folk say it carries off more than any blizzard. Fingers split at the knuckles in the cold, and a crow hangs on the southwest breeze without a wingbeat. Wading through the snow eats the daylight, and the light is going before the party has gone half as far as it meant to.
Rain pours down on the forest in great gray sheets, and even the ducks look a little worried. Mild, damp air keeps the dew on everything until late morning, and the drops come slanting in on a brisk south breeze.
What to watch for
The hazards that come with the forest. When the weather makes one likely, Skyscribe shows the risk and lets you roll to see whether it strikes.
- Sinkhole
- Ice breakup
- Falling trees
- Wildfire
Villages and cities
Put the party in a village or a city and the scene and the writing move into the streets, styled to suit the forest.

A spring thunderstorm tumbles across the lanes, fast-moving and noisy, and rain runs in every furrow and footpath. Shopkeepers stamp their feet in the doorways between customers, while a pleasant west breeze lifts hair and hems. The market smells of sawdust and woodsmoke, which visitors notice first and locals not at all.
Rare sights
Keep an eye on the scenery. Now and then something unusual turns up in the picture, and a few sights are rare enough that most players will never see them.
